Communications Audit
As WESD prepared for the retirement of their Communications Leader, we were asked to help! We completed a comprehensive communications audit as well as led the recruiting efforts, in partnership with the WESD Human Resources team, to hire a new Director of Communication & Public Engagement. Lori Oberheide led the PointNorth team through a comprehensive audit of the WESD’s communication services. The team’s talents, skills, and structure were reviewed, along with internal and external stakeholder outreach, which included 25 in-person interviews and over 150 responses from an online questionnaire. The audit resulted in a 38-page report, identifying recommendations to streamline services and communications throughout WESD.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the entire staff of PointNorth for the outstanding work completed on this project. We are extremely fortunate to be able to work with such a talented and generous group of professionals. We love working with PointNorth.”

Team Development
In early 2020, as the Executive team and Board of Directors prepared their Strategic Plan, PointNorth was asked to facilitate a joint leadership team and Board of Director workshop. The workshop focused on setting the long-term vision for the organization.
“As a team, we are still talking about what we learned. Bottom line, what we learned will help us deliver results.”

Strategic Plan
Peter Meijer and his team had experienced previous strategic planning efforts that resulted in reports and memos that lacked actionable next steps. We began our work together with an emphasis on an engaged and inclusive process including all staff. The team was aligned and able to achieve an actionable plan after five half-day, facilitated workshops. The Strategic Plan included the refinement of the firm’s mission and values, an inspirational vision statement, four strategic imperatives, 21 goals and 90 tasks to be completed over the next three years.
“I enjoyed the approach and process that PointNorth took with our team, keeping us on track and engaged. Overall we really liked working with PointNorth.”

Design + Construction Partnering Agreement
The Kelso School District passed a $98 million dollar bond in 2018 funding the design and construction of two new schools (Lexington and Wallace Elementary), the first new schools constructed in thirty years. The process included the use of the General Contractor / Construction Manager (GC/CM) delivery model emphasizing the value added when all team members are involved in all aspects of the design and building process. PointNorth was hired to facilitate a Partnering Agreement with the design and construction teams. The work with the team spanned two years and included partnering workshops with Forma Construction, ESD 112, Integrus Architecture and the Kelso School District.
“PointNorth had a collaborative process for creating our [Partnering] Charter that incorporated all voices.”
Mary Beth Tack,
Superintendent of Kelso School District
