Live Your North®

What do you stand for?

It's a simple enough question ... but one that many individuals and organizations struggle to answer effectively.

This is a problem.

Because here's the truth: the organizations that truly matter in this rapidly evolving workplace aren't the ones with the most important mission, or the fanciest new tech. They're the ones that know what they stand for, can say that in a way that resonates with stakeholders, and have the strategy and the trust-based teams to back it up. PointNorth is one of these organizations.

We know what we stand for: People First. Lead with Integrity. Think Big. Keep it Real.

Organizations that give voice to their values are stronger. We help organizations to uncover their values as a whole, by helping individuals and teams give voice to their values. We believe this is the essence of Live Your North.

And that’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of our updated Live Your North Values Sort.

Much like the North Star – a fixed position in the sky that never wavers and is always steady – your values are your True North.

Over the past several years, we have provided training and organizational development solutions based on a Values Sort tool. This Values Sort activity was first developed by The Good Project, an ensemble of research projects funded by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. We reached out to work with this team of middle and high school educators to evolve their values sort and adapt it to the professional work environment. And, we continue to evolve this values sort.

Here’s how to use it:

Using the Values Sort activity we want you to strengthen what you believe by having you make choices about what is the most important, more important, neutral, less important and least important values to you. There are no right or wrong answers only what is right for you.

You are only allowed the following number in each category:

  • My True North - 4

  • Almost My North - 6

  • Neutral - 10

  • Not Really My North - 6

  • Not My North - 4

Having the clarity around our values makes doing business easy, even when things get tough, because we have that clear ethical compass guiding our decisions, pointing us due north, no matter what. So give the newly revised Values Sort a try, and let us know what you think! We can’t wait to learn about how you Live Your North!
